Coal production in Tajikistan in 2019 amounted to over 2 million tons, which is 121 thousand tons more than in 2018, the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies reports. It is noted that this is the highest indicator in the history of the coal industry of the republic.
According to the Ministry of Industry, last year, out of 18 enterprises in the industry, only 11 worked, another 7 enterprises did not function due to the expiration of the license.
About 97% of the coal mined came from 5 enterprises: “Fon-Janob”, “Talco-Resource”, “KMT” LLC, “Ziddy” and “Angisht” OJSC.
The resulting fuel was mainly sold to Dushanbe-2 CHPP (more than half of the total sales), to industrial enterprises (31%), to the population (13%), to budget organizations (3%).
Only 0.9% of the total coal was exported: about 18 thousand tons of fuel was delivered to Pakistan and Uzbekistan.
This year it is planned to increase indicators due to mining by the mine method. According to preliminary estimates by the Ministry of Industry, last year, underground coal mining will amount to 5.5% of the total production of this solid fuel.
It should be noted that over the past five years, coal mining in Tajikistan has grown almost 2.3 times - from 870 thousand tons in 2014 to 2 million tons in 2019.
